Whale Viewing in South Africa and Oceanfront Accommodation

Whale viewing in South Africa (with suitable oceanfront accommodation) can be had all along the south-western coast line. The ocean waters around the Cape Peninsula, in False Bay and further along the Western Cape coast, are visited by Southern Right whales during the months from July to November.

Many of the seaside resorts in the Cape Town Metro area - such as Simon's Town, Fish Hoek, Hout Bay, Gordon's Bay and Bloubergstrand - have lookout spots from where whale viewing is possible at close range. In some places whale watching by boat is also an option.
